Paul Chambers(폴 챔버스)-Jazz Double Bass Player

 비밥의 대가,재즈 보잉의 대가이다. 나는 그의 사운드와 워킹 라인, 그의 솔로 라인을 매우 좋아한다. 풍부한 비밥 라인과 날카로운 워킹베이스는 그의 트레이드 마크라고 하겠다. 전통적인 워킹과 투 필에 충실한 단지 블루스릭만 반복해서 치던 방식에서 탈피한 베이스 연주. 베이스가 재즈네에서 얼마나 중요한 위치인가를 다시금 확인시켜준 연주자이다.
마일즈 데이비스, 존 콜트레인, 레드갈란드, 윈튼 켈리등 그 시대 최고의 연주자들의 가장 인기있는 젊은 연주자 였다.

<일대기>

1935년 4월 22일 미국, 피츠버그 출생
디트로이트에서 성장함. 바리톤 혼으로 음악을 배우기 시작하고 곧 튜바를 공부함
1952년 디트로이드 심포니 베이스 연주자에게 베이스레슨을 시작함
1952년에서 1955년 바리톤 섹소폰 멤버로 Cass의 심포니 단원으로 활동하고 그 즘 뉴욕으로 이주함
1954년부터 55년까지 베니그린, 폴 윈체트, 조지 워싱톤등의 뮤지션과 두어를 함.
1955년 마일즈 데이비스 밴드에 들어가 1963년까지 몸담음
1963년에서 66년까지 윈튼 켈리 트리오에서 활동함
1969 1월 4일 사망함
